Latest artworks

Recent artworks are experimentations in three dimensions and installation. The ideas for these artworks arise when I examine my history and think critically about my own beliefs and their origins. They are intended to create environments that start conversations.

Camping and the illusion of emptiness, 2024 - continuing. Papier-mâché, thrifted objects, video, lights.
An immersive display about the experience of camping I had as a child in the 1970s and 80s in Canada. There was an impression that the wilderness was unoccupied and always had been. This was a fabrication used to continually re-colonize territory seized from Indigenous people. Indigenous people were there then and are here today.

This artwork continues to evolve with the creation of thematically related Mokuhanga wood block prints.

Red, Blue, Rise, 2024. Assemblage, mixed media. 30 by 30 by 40 inches.
This artwork expresses the challenges of understanding the beliefs and viewpoints of others, especially when emotion, history and tradition are sources of those beliefs.
